Florence Emily Shrimpton nee Baird had a ‘very pretty wedding’ according to a newspaper account published on 18 November 1891.

Florence married Harry Shrimpton on 11 November 1891 and the Otago Daily Times described in considerable detail her wedding dress and the clothes of other members of the wedding party.

Florence gave birth to five daughters and one son between 1893 and 1907. Her husband Harry died in 1908, soon after the birth of their last child. Florence did not remarry. She signed the petition on Sheet 90 along with seven others who all gave their addresses as Upper Walker Street, Dunedin.

Florence later moved to the Caversham area, eventually moving to live with one of her unmarried daughters in the 1920s. Florence died in 1952.

Panel materials: Sheet from my mother’s trousseau (she married in 1947). The embroidered panels at the top and bottom were from an embroidery done by my father’s eldest sister Doris. I used her threads to embroider with and her hoop to hold the panel tight as I worked.
