Catherine Jamieson McIntosh was born in Rothesay, Bute, Scotland on 21 August 1836. She worked as an errand girl then cotton weaver before emigrating to NZ in C 1864. Shortly after her arrival she married William Price, a blacksmith, at the Tuapeka Hotel, Teviot Junction. 

William and Catherine settled in Tapanui, South Otago and had a total of 9 children, all surviving to adulthood. Catherine was widowed in 1886 leaving her with a young family, she died in 1910 and is buried in the Tapanui Cemetery. Written by Katherine Blakeley, sourced from www.nzhistory.govt.nz
